Country Music: A year in review

2016+was+a+powerful+year+for+country+music%2C+and+2017+holds+just+as+much+promise.+
2016 was a powerful year for country music, and 2017 holds just as much promise.

2016 was filled with new albums released from Florida Georgia Line to Luke Bryan. New artists make their debuts including Kane Brown and Mo Pitney. 2016 was a year filled with new opportunities and old connections.

Kenny Chesney once again appears on billboards after releasing ‘Cosmic Hallelujah’, in October. Chesney most recently won the Country Music Association Pinnacle Award at the Country Music Awards this year. He also went on his ‘Spread The Love’ tour which was a huge success!

Florida Georgia Line also went on their ‘Dig Your Roots’ tour in 2016. They released their hit song ‘H.O.L.Y.’ along with other songs on their ‘Dig Your Roots’ album. Many songs on the album broke the record boards placing in the top ten multiple times.

Kane Brown won album of the month in December of 2016. His self titled album, ‘Kane Brown’, was a hit with music critics everywhere! Brown built a platform for himself through social media, rocketing his singing career.

Keith Urban announced his 2016 Ripcord World Tour! One of the hit songs on his ‘Ripcord’’ album was ‘Blue Ain’t your Color’. Urban’s album was nominated for Country Music Association Award for Album of the Year.

Carrie Underwood showed up in the billboards yet again. She won Female Vocalist of the Year at the Country Music Association. This did not come as a surprise to many, as her song ‘Dirty Laundry’ quickly rose to the top of the charts.

Luke Bryan went on his ‘Kill the Lights’ tour creating a playful, yet emotional environment for his fans. When he came out with his most recent album of 2016, ‘Farm Tour…Here’s to the Farmer’, many were surprised by this short yet meaningful array of songs. The album rose to number 1 on the US Top Country Albums Billboard.

Overall, 2016 was a big year for country artists. Many broke records, went on tour, and released emotional albums. 2016 was filled with emotion and heartaches, but 2017 seems to hold promise and good vibes.
