Review
This movie explores many foreign beliefs and traditions of the European culture that many American Christmas movies do not have the opportunity to present. The film shows many northern European traditions.
The movie’s addition of the elements of magic and adventure is unique. This aspect separates it from the films strictly in the ‘Christmas movies’ category. It is more of an adventure movie, but it still gives a nice and cozy holiday vibe.
Apart from its mystical and cultural aspects, the environment and location of the movie’s plot are beautiful. Its scenes set in the ancient Scandinavian castle and in the snow-covered forests are breathtaking and worth noting.
Overall, the movie was entertaining to watch and very interesting. The actors portrayed the characters pretty well.
Audience Opinions
User zdarov wrote on IMBD, “This Norwegian movie is more a fairy tale set at Christmas-time than ‘a Christmas movie’ per se. That’s part of what’s so good and refreshing about it for me. I’m so glad I found this while searching Netflix. I hope others will watch and enjoy it. It’s beautiful visually, and very relaxing.”
