Nick Jonas went from a bandmate to a rising artist. He’s been branching out recently from his brothers by making a new name for himself and becoming a different artist from the old Disney figure. Nick Jonas was born on September 16, 1992 in Dallas, Texas. He and his brothers Kevin, Joe, and Frankie were raised in Wyckoff, New Jersey. After being discovered in a hair salon, Jonas began singing on Broadway at the age of 7. He was later signed to Colombia Records where the Jonas Brothers idea started.
When they were younger Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, and Joe Jonas started up their own band called the Jonas Brothers.
The start of the Jonas Brothers’ popularity began in 2007 when they got signed with Disney’s Hollywood Record. Their single S.O.S reached number one on iTunes and the album reached top five on the billboard charts. After releasing another album titled A Little Bit Longer, the Jonas Brothers became the first artists to have three albums on the Billboard Top Ten at one time. The brothers also had their own show on Disney Channel Jonas. They also starred in two Disney Channel movies along with Demi Lovato, Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2. They became a popular group for Disney Channel and appealed to a young, tween audience. In 2013, they released two singles “Pom Poms” and “First Time” before announcing the break-up of the band. Nick was the one to start the conversation about the potential break up when he addressed it might be time to be brothers instead of bandmates. Joe and Nick revealed they will be looking for future music and acting opportunities and Kevin wants to start his own entertainment company along with being a first time father. The group released five final songs before ending their career together. Their last full album was Jonas L.A. Nick Jonas has recently come out with his new album titled Nicholas Jonas. The recent songs that he’s been releasing are different from the old Disney music he used to sing. He’s definitely not in his brother’s shadows anymore. When in a band with his brothers, the songs were slower and most of his songs were about a girl or break-up. Although his songs are still about girls, they’re more upbeat and energetic. Songs like “S.O.S” and “Please Be Mine” by the Jonas Brothers are songs that a person might cry in their room to. His recent songs like “Teacher” and “Jealous” are songs that make a person want to dance. His songs are also varied in the genre of music. Jonas has recently done R&B, pop, and even a ballad in one album. Also when comparing Disney Jonas to Nick Jonas, his songs are more mature. The majority of the Jonas Brother songs in the beginning sounded as if they were relatable for teenagers only. Now, Nick Jonas can appeal to a broader audience and he makes his songs relatable to more people. Jonas’ promise to become a new artist is fulfilled with his new songs and new identity.

Jonas’s songs aren’t the only thing that makes him recognizable. He has also been acting a little as well. He’s known for his own television show “Jonas” from Disney, but he’s also acted in shows such as Kingdom. Two of his singles are currently part of the top ten in the United States and five of them are top fifty. Jonas also seems to fit in with all the popular artists right now. His songs are the types of singles that radios like to play over and over as well. Jonas is becoming a rising star, although the fact that he’s been using the way he looks to get there is unflattering. People might find this a little upsetting because if Nick Jonas is getting famous because he wants to make music, why is he using his looks? His music should be what gets his name out there not his body. After all, he is a musician not a model. Another negative thing about Nick Jonas is that he believes that women have it easier in the music industry. Women might find this insulting that he thinks men are any different from women when it comes to making a name for themselves. Lastly, people could have different opinions on the new Nick Jonas, like they did with Miley Cyrus. They might have a problem letting go of “Disney Nick” and think of Jonas as growing up negatively.
