Legendary NBA player, Michael Jordan won the honor over first overall pick, Hakeem Olajuwon. Jordan finished third in scoring average with 28 points per game and was 4th in steals with 2.4 steals per game. Jordan had a highly successful collegiate career at North Carolina, winning the Player of the Year twice and made a name for himself by hitting a clutch game winning shot against Georgetown in the NCAA championship. Jordan proved himself to be a strong postseason player as well in spite of an early exit at the hands of the Milwaukee Bucks. Jordan averaged 29.3 and 8.5 assists per game.
