One of the greatest base runners of all time, Rickey Henderson stole his 800th career base in a 4-3 loss against the Cleveland Indians(now known as the Guardians).
During the game he also had 2 hits and scored 2 of the Yankees’ three runs. Later in the season, New York would trade him to the Oakland Athletics, where he spent 6 seasons prior to going to the Yankees.
Henderson responded by having his best season, winning the 1990 AL MVP, stealing 65 bases, leading the league for the 10th time in his career. He ended his career with 1,406 stolen bases, still an all-time record.
