Opinion
In my personal opinion, “The Miracle Season“ is an inspiring and emotional movie that highlights the power of teamwork, resilience, and overcoming adversity. The film does a great job of showing how grief can be transformed into motivation and strength, and it emphasizes the importance of support from teammates and coaches. I feel as though, in certain aspects, it truly does relate to high school volleyball. The movie can be related to traditional high school volleyball through the bond of the girls on the team, the frustration that is displayed during practice (especially when trying to find a new setter) and so much more. Director Sean McNamara does a great job at portraying the stress of being a student-athlete. Overall, it’s a heartfelt story that encourages viewers to never give up, no matter the challenges they face.

Opinions around CHS
Colonia Girls Volleyball Setter, Olivia Szustwal, states, “I think that it is cool that there is a movie about volleyball because there isn’t a whole lot out there about this sport, compared to football, or even other sports. I love that there is a movie about volleyball because I enjoy getting to watch the things I am intrigued by and sharing my interest with others. My favorite characters in the movie are Line and Coach Bresnahan. I think it was fairly accurate. Most shows that feature volleyball often portray it as a joke.
“The Summer I Turned Pretty” is a perfect example of this. In the show, they say spike the ball down instead of calling a kill. Their jerseys are also cropped tank tops, which stray away from your traditional volleyball jersey that you would actually wear on game day. Overall, I think “The Miracle Season” is a fantastic watch. If you haven’t seen it, you definitely should.” In agreement, Valentina Diaz exclaims, “I think the movie is really inspirational. It truly shows you how you can turn some of the saddest moments in your life into amazing memories. The overall message of the movie is beautiful. It’s super important to not just volleyball players but athletes of all sports.”
