For consumers, the holidays can bring stress as they try to find gifts for their family and friends. Black Friday and Cyber Monday lets people get their gifts early for lower costs.

However, people want to get the most out of their money on these savings. So which day has the better deals?

Statistics

According to Queue-It, about 81.7 million people shop in store on Black Friday. They also stated that $10.8 billion was spent on Black Friday 2024. Predictions are circulating that that number will rise in 2025.

Cyber Monday has seen significantly more engagement with 197 million people that shopped last year. Exploding Topics states that $13.3 billion is spent on Cyber Monday each year.

General deals

2025 Black Friday deals can see up to 60 percent off. Walmart offers 50 percent off various departments such as clothing, tech and furniture. Target has focused its Black Friday deals on tech with 60 percent off certain video games and 50 percent off headphones.

On the other hand, Cyber Monday’s deals vary from as low as 22 percent off to as high as 60 percent off. Amazon, the biggest online shopping platform, has also centered their online deals around tech with up to 45 percent off TVs. Cyber Monday’s deals tend to differ across products.

Tech deals

Best Buy, a popular tech store, has various deals on different tech items like PlayStation 5, Sony Wireless Headphones, Chromebooks, and more. All of these bargains are apart of Best Buy’s Cyber Monday deals.

Specifically, Best Buy has an HP 15.6″ Laptop that is priced at $219.99 for Black Friday. Walmart has the same laptop for $219.00. Although the prices aren’t drastically different, Walmart’s laptop comes with 256 gigibytes while Best Buy only has 128 gigibytes.

Fashion deals

Along with tech, clothing is another popular category for holiday deals. Adidas which is known for its athletic wear, has released dozens of deals on its products for Cyber Monday. One of which is 45 percent off their Women’s Runfalcon 5 Running shoes.

Kohls also has a deal on the same shoes for their Black Friday. Comparatively, Adidas offers the best deal as you can get the shoes for $33 while it’s $48.75 at Kohls.

Opinions

Between the two, Black Friday is the day for general deals while Cyber Monday is best for specific items. If you want to save but don’t have any particular item in mind, Black Friday deals may be better. Otherwise waiting until Cyber Monday may be best if you want a certain product.

Preferences

Many people enjoy specific elements that each day respectively has. “I prefer Black Friday.” Carmella May, a senior at Colonia High School states, “It’s the og. It’s more intense.” Black Friday offers the adrenaline and dopamine one gets from shopping in person. Being able to see products in store lets people physically see what they’re buying.

The most popular shopping days of the year aren’t always popular among every person. “I’m more of a small business Sunday person.” Melissa Abrams, an English teacher at Colonia High School states. Some people love supporting smaller business rather than big chain companies.
