‘An Elf’s Story’ is a Christmas movie for younger kids. Based on a popular children’s book. The movie explains the origin of the elf and why they appear in people’s houses every December to watch children and report back to Santa.
Believing without seeing
The movie follows Chippy, a scout elf who lives at the North Pole and loves his job. Chippy is going on a mission to help a boy named Taylor McTuttle. McTuttle is starting to lose his Christmas spirit and, his belief in Santa. This is a significant problem because belief is one of the primary factor that keeps Christmas magical. Chippy teams up with a younger elf named Skout, who is still learning the rules. Together they try to help McTuttle with is rediscovery in his Christmas spirit without breaking the rules. If someone see’s the Elf’s move or touches them they can lose their powers and become really sick.
Animations
The animation is colorful and friendly, but is seen as super advanced or detailed. Comparing it to big animated movies from studios like Disney or Pixar, it looks simpler. However that does not take away from the story. The bright colors and cheerful designs fit the holiday theme perfectly and make the North pole scene feel warm and festive. The characters are expressive and easy to like, especially Chippy, whose feelings you can really feel through the screen.
Online opinions
On Rotten Tomatoes, there is not any critic reviews posted yet, so there’s no Tomatometer score from professional critics. The audience score is around 63% based on fewer than 50 viewer ratings. This means more than half of the people who rated it online liked it, but it’s not a huge hit. Some users think it’s cute and nostalgic, or say they watch it every year with their family. Others call it cringy, especially the songs, and think it’s better for younger kids than teens or adults.
