Girl’s Tennis season came to a close

With the girl’s tennis coming to a close, it is time to look at the season’s recap.

On Monday, October 24, 2016, the Colonia Girls’ Tennis season came to a close. The season was closed with a celebration of senior night for two graduating players.

Colonia High School’s girls tennis team sends two of their starter players off to college, Brunella Goddey and Sweta Patel. With the closing of the season, the tennis team holds a senior night after their last match for both if these players.  

The last scheduled match  of the season was against Mother Seton. Colonia High School had a tough loss against them. The girls tennis team had three wins out of 23 games, it was a tough season for the team this year. But all in all, the team agreed they a had a great season.

The match started off with a ten minute warm up, and moved on with serves from both Colonia’s players and Mother Seton’s players. The match started off with a strong start from Colonia with amazing hits, the other team couldn’t receive. But as time progressed

The tennis team has 17 members, seven of the members were starter players who were Diya Pujara, Melissa Nyai, Brunella Goddey, Veeronica Estivas, Archna Mehandru, Sweta Patel and Rutu Thakker. The other 10 are alternates. The game started off with a strong start from Colonia, but as it progressed Mother Seton started gaining points.

As the game ended, even with a lose the girls tennis team stood strong and looked forward to their senior night celebration. The team made posters, bought gifts and decorated the courts for both of the seniors. After talking to senior, Sweta Patel she stated, “I am going to miss this team very much. I started playing since I was a junior, last year it was a great way to start off my senior year, and I hope the tennis team excels in the future. And I can’t wait for the banquet to see all the girls once more.”
