The Flash is a show based on the DC Comic universe and is on its fourth season. The main character Barry Allen and his team dedicate themselves to protect the innocent and solve old mysteries.
Season 1
Season 1 of the flash debuted on October 7, 2014 and is still running to this day.
In this season Barry Allen gets his powers by an abnormal accident that makes him as a fast as a speeding bullet. Reverse Flash, Barry’s main antagonist, wants to kill Barry Allen before he becomes faster then him.
Reverse Flash, AKA Eoboard Thawne, goes back into the past to try to kill Barry Allen. However mistakenly, he kills Barry’s mother instead. Reverse Flash realizes that he is stuck in the past and the only way out in is to disguise himself as Barry Allen’s mentor. Ultimately Reverse Flash’s plan to escape the past fails drastically. Barry Allen the Flash ends up saving the day and defeating the sinister Reverse Flash.
This season was a great one to start of the franchise. The Flash is such a great comic book character that it was amazing for viewers at home to see him come to life. Not to mention his antagonist did a good job making Barry Allen the young underdog that he is in the comic books.
Season 2
A new villain named Zoom comes out of a portal from Earth Two. Zoom wants to take over Earth One forever. The problem is the Flash is in his way and wants to destroy him. Flash is not fast enough to stop Zoom, creating a huge problem for Star city. The two end up having a race to see who is faster. With his speed Barry goes back in time and gets his past self to race Zoom. In the meantime Barry opens a portal to send back Zoom. In the end, Barry is able to defeat Zoom and send him back into the speed force.
This season wasn’t as great as the first. However, that doesn’t take away from the fact that it was an overall good season. This season had many unpredictable plots and twists that made it hard not to watch. Although it wasn’t my favorite it still is a unforgettable season.
Season 3
In this season Flash goes back in time to save his mom but ends up creating an alternate universe called Flashpoint. Savitar a mysterious villain has appeared to kill Flash and everyone he loves. Barry accidently goes to the future and sees Savitar kill the woman he loves Iris. So he is trying everything in his power to change the future, save Iris, and defeat the sinister speedster Savitar. Barry Allen defeats all odds and saves the future and his fiance Iris.
Season three of The Flash was by far the most crazy and unpredictable season. Watching this season unfold I could not believe the story behind it. It took the audience through a whirlwind on emotions and so many things happened and changes that you really had to watch the ending to know exactly what happens.
Season 4
Season four is the newest season and is still going on today. Instead of his main anatognist being a speedster like the previous season this team it is a super genius my the name DeVoe. He is able to overthink the Flash, and is always one step ahead of him. DeVoe has created a bus full of 13 mettahumans which are regular people with insane gifts. One by one he finds them all and steals their powers making him stronger by the day. So far Barry has been unsuccessful in defeating DeVoe however there is plenty of more action in store.
Overall, the season has been good. It is refreshing to see a different villain like DeVoe and not a speedster like the past three seasons. When it comes to this season it hasn’t lived up to the season prior. Not taking away from it, but this season fell flat and I expected more.
Show Review
All four seasons of The Flash have been a success. Grant Gustin does an outstanding job playing The Flash and really conveys the role of a superhero. The Scarlet Speedster is a perfect example for viewers of all ages at home to never give up and there is always another way to do something.
Although all of the seasons have been really good, season three stands out to me the most. This season had so much drama and suspense all the way up to the last episode. The subplots were excellent and the main plot of who is Savitar and how can they stop him was so unexpected that I jumped out of my seat when I found out that it was future Barry Allen the entire time.
Things about the show that could be changed is they take a lot of breaks. There are some weeks were we have to wait to find out what happened, and as a viewer I want to know what happened as soon as possible. I understand that not all shows can be aired every week however, it get ridiculous when they take breaks what feels like every 3 episodes.
If interested in watching The Flash it is on every Tuesday at 8:00 at night on the CW.
