Controversial, toxic years of Donald Trump’s Presidency finally end

Through his one term as the 45th President of the United States, former President Donald Trump and his administration created tension both in our own country and around the world. From the first time he ran for office, he promised so much for the people in America. Some of the said promises left a foul taste in the mouth of many.

He lost his run for a second term although he frivolously refutes the results. With that fact being clear as day in his last days being in office, he does things that no President of the United States has done in centuries. In short, the negative influence from actions he did during his term will give a lasting impression of how unprincipled a leader can be. As he left office, his approval rating was 34% according to a Gallup survey conducted between Jan. 4 and Jan. 15. Only four Presidents have a lower rating when they left office according to ThoughtCo’s article End of Term Presidential Approval Ratings.

A mastery in obstructive influence

Trump constantly used social media, with Twitter obviously being the personal favorite. More often than not, he spoke his mind and put little thought into how he sounded. In the past when others ran for President, he would Tweet about others in the presidential running and be passive aggressive towards them. “So weird to watch @FoxNews interviewing only failed Dems, like Representative Tim Ryan of Ohio, who got zero percent in his recent presidential run, and following Sleepy Joe’s train to wherever. What a difference from the past–But we will win anyway!!!” – (@realDonaldTrump) September 30, 2020.

Within days of holding the Inauguration and introducing the new President, Joe Biden, he decided to not attend. He’s the first president in 150 years to ever do that, and then the first to even have a group of people associated with him to storm the capital. The strength of his influence and the anger that came from it really influenced everyone. Besides the split in the American people’s views, other world leaders were denouncing what he was allowing to happen and how little force he gave to push those people away from the capital.

Not impeached once, but twice

On top of all that he said, there was a congressional action against him legally in taking him out of office. The first attempt at impeachment was over whether Trump had abused his power. Though the first impeachment’s resolution didn’t end with Trump out of office, he’s the first President to ever be impeached twice. The second time, the more recent and still developing trial, is over the events that went on in the Capital. As of right now, the vote is in favor of charging Trump with having supporters storm the Capitol weeks ago. From that same vote, it became the largest bipartisan impeachment vote in American history, with the vote being 232-197.
