Synopsis
This movie centers on Gwen, whereas the first movie from 2021 focused on her brother, Finney. Their mother used to have dreams that predicted events before she died by suicide. Gwen’s father dismisses these dreams as nonsense, believing they contributed to their mother’s death.
Gwen’s dreams become disturbing as she experiences physical harm and sleepwalking during them. In these dreams, The Grabber, who kidnapped Finney in the first movie and was killed by Finney, reappears. Outside her dreams, Gwen knows The Grabber is dead and feels safe.
Gwen thinks that if she goes to a camp her mom used to attend when she was her age, then she will understand why she is having these dreams. On the way to the camp, a snowstorm hits, trapping Gwen, Finney, and Ermesto at the camp, waiting out the storm. The camp is empty besides them and the owners. While there, Gwen’s dreams start getting worse, and Finney thinks that The Grabber is calling him from a phone booth. But The Grabber is dead, so they’re safe, right?
Which movie do you prefer?
I absolutely enjoyed the movie. With the first movie, I liked it, but I felt as if it dragged on for too long. I did not think that this movie needed a sequel and was skeptical about what the plot would be. All of the fears were gone by the end of the movie. This movie was so interesting, and the plot draws you in. This movie took notes from “A Nightmare on Elm Street, a 1984 slasher film directed by Wes Craven featuring the character, Freddy Krueger.” I loved the acting in this movie, especially by McGraw. I am so excited to see McGraw in more movies.
After the movie, I was talking to my dad about how much I loved it and that I think it is a lot better than the first. Right after I said that, a girl came out of the theater while talking to someone, saying that she thinks that the first movie was a lot better. While I greatly preferred the second movie over the first, my sister does not agree with me as she prefers the first one.
Agreeing with me, my mom prefers the second movie, while my dad says, “I prefer the first one because it is the beginning of a new story. The second one was good, but I liked not knowing what to expect in the first one.” Sophomore at Colonia High School, Gulianna Grimm says that she also prefers the second movie over the first. “The movie was really good, way better than the first one. I loved how the story was set, leading to lots of suspense. I think the second movie connects to the first,” says Grimm.
Carrieann Pietrocola, teacher at Marlboro Memorial Middle School, says, “I loved the movie and the storyline. As much as I loved the first movie, the second one is probably now my favorite movie. I was skeptical that the second one wasn’t going to be good. Boy, was I wrong.”

Your review makes me curious to see both movies. I don’t think I’ve watch a horror movie since Nightmare on Elm Street, so maybe it’s time.

Alexa, I think you did an excellent job reviewing the sequel to the first movie. Always keep in mind that each person who reads a book, sees a movie, watches a play or writes a review might see something a bit different than the. person next to them. That’s what makes us all so different. But based on your review, if I were to see the movie, I’d pretty much know what to expect and look forward to. Good job!!!

Your assessment of the new movie is well expressed because you compared the differences and outcomes. Not having seen either, I can’t give an objective review;however it does make me interested in possibly seeing both. Your including the opinions of your family and friends was a good factor of your review.
