With every season comes a new line of trends and wardrobes. Fall is one the most popular seasons for new clothes.
Transitioning from lighter clothing and swimsuits to heavier, warmer clothes, fall’s fashion signals the arrival of cooler weather. Popular clothing brands like Hollister, American Eagle, Urban Outfitters send out new fall and winter clothes to their stores every year.
Influence on trends
Apps like Tiktok, Pinterest, and Instagram are popular platforms that have heavy influences on what trends are in at the moment. Tiktok and Instagram each respectively have nearly 2 billion users while Pinterest has 578 million users.
The rise of 2000s or y2k style clothing online has impacted major clothing companies. Following, Hollister for example, has recently put out a new line of clothes that mimics some of their actual pieces from the 2000s.
Reoccurring trends
Certain aspects of fall clothing tend to repeat itself every year. “I like it. I like to look at clothes from a while ago and that’s where I get my inspiration,” Alexa Beck, a senior at Colonia High School states.
Colors drastically affect how seasons are perceived. Fall fashion trends of 2025 can see the same moody hues of reds, browns, and beige.
Also, Gingham, plaid, and stripes also make a comeback this year.
Clothing pieces
Polo sweaters are seeing mutual attention from multiple fashion sites like Who What Wear and Real Simple. Similarly, cardigans offer a versatile piece for layering. Knitted articles like sweaters and cardigans see a revival after the heat of summer.
Boots in the fall are a staple piece every year. From ankle cut to thigh high, boots pair well with lots of outfits.
Aesthetics for the fall
Boho, which is short for bohemian, has become one of the most popular aesthetics for 2025 fall. Websites like Elle have claimed the aesthetic for fall for its woven, flowy, and natural elements.
Along with boho, country style has appeared with lots of gingham and plaid elements. In Urban Outfitters’ fall section, they list a gingham puff sleeve babydoll dress and a plaid drop waist mini dress.
Accessories
Fall is the time for layers and accessories as the weather gets cooler. While some accessories can be for visual purposes, others are used for their practicality.
Thus, hats, scarves, gloves, mittens, and earmuffs all keep a person warm while offering more details to an outfit. Hollister recently released a woven scarf which can be used to elevate an outfit while providing warmth.
Furthermore, Jewelry is used for its decorative purposes. According to Lauren Riley Jewelry, gold goes well with fall as it compliments the season’s warm tones. Silver can also pair well with fall colors.
Opinions on the trends
Not everyone rides the waves of trends. There’s certain clothes that some people aren’t a fan of, “I hate the sweater dresses.” Mariella Spina, a senior at Colonia High School expresses. Trendy pieces can’t appeal to everyone.
Some people love fall classics. “I like the boots.” Alexa Beck, high school senior, stated. Boots will always have a place in the fall trends.
