Young country music duo Maddie & Tae release their debut album

The female country duo, Maddie & Tae from Nashville, Tennessee, have recently released their debut album Start Here. The duo began their music career at the young age of 18 and were soon signed to Dot Records, they are now currently 20 years old. Prior to their debut album they released an EP Maddie & Tae. Throughout their career they have received a lot of attention with their albums and even guest starred on the Disney Channel show Girl Meets World. They premiered one of their songs “Fly,” by performing it  on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

Start Here was released on August 28, 2015 featuring 11 tracks. Maddie and Tae had written all the songs based off of personal experiences. Maddie and Tae have contributed to writing every song and had the help of others like Danny Myrick, Aaron Scherz, Brad Tursi, Pete Sallis, Tiffany Vartanyan, Blair Daly, Heather Morgan, etc. The album had reached number two on the Billboard US Top Country Albums and sales were over 50,000. The whole album is about 37 minutes long and the songs vary from upbeat, fast pace songs to slow songs. One of the singles off of the album “Girl in a Country Song,” won an award for Video of the Year at the Country Music Association Awards.

Alexandra Powanda is a senior at Colonia High School, and is currently 17 years old. She plans on going to college for journalism after high school.
