A cure for winter boredom

Now that all the holidays and excitement are over, it’s time for some of the most boring months of the year, January and February. These months don’t include any major holidays and don’t give us much time off from school either. They can also be stressful because of finals, moving to your new classes, and adjusting to the second semester of the school year. Since it is cold and there isn’t much to do, I have compiled a list of some fun activities that can keep you and even a few friends entertained during these long winter months.

Most people during the winter begin to gain weight because of little outdoor activity. Nowadays, you can avoid this by using your Wii, Xbox, or PlayStation. On these game systems there are various types of games to keep you moving and in shape during the winter months. There’s Just Dance 2014, Wii Sports, and Kinect Sports that will keep you engaged and having fun for hours. You can play these games by yourself or with a group of people, which is perfect for anyone. Just Dance 2014 has a huge list of dance songs from today and many years ago, so it suits everyone’s liking. Wii Sports and Kinect Sports brings the fun of sports inside, and also has many less-known sports that you can try, like archery and fencing. These games will keep you moving for hours and you’ll never miss being outdoors.

Another thing that people tend to do during the colder months is eat… A LOT. We usually do this out of boredom because there isn’t much to do. But you can also turn this into a fun activity! People love drinks from places like Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts, but you can also make these drinks at home. All you have to do is type in the name of your favorite drink into YouTube.com and find a video with the instructions on how to make it. There is so many different types to choose from and this will keep you full and focused for a good amount of time. This is really fun to do with a big group of people who make all different drinks, and then everyone tries a little of each. Now instead of going out in the bitter cold to get the drink of your desire, you can get cozy and make it from home!

Another beneficial thing that teenagers can do during the winter is clean out their closet. This may sound like a drag, but you can make easy money doing it. So many teenagers have unwanted or old clothes that are sitting in their closet taking up needed space. Instead of letting them waste away there, why not make money off them?! In nearby Edison, there is a store called Plato’s Closet that buys unwanted clothes and gives you money for them! This is a great way to get rid of old things you don’t want and get money to buy new stuff. They buy guys clothes as well as girl clothes, so it’s a great system for everyone.

These are easy things that you can do from the comfort of your home or just by taking a drive down the street. They can also save you from the insanity and boredom that winter often brings to most people. So if your ever having a lazy day at home, I’m sure that these things will benefit and entertain you as we all wait for spring to come.
