Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) was a Dutch painter. Van Gogh is currently one of history’s most celebrated artists, and his artworks are in museums worldwide. His art style was post-impressionistic, with an added personal touch. However, van Gogh struggled with psychiatric disorders his entire life. He found it difficult to find beauty in his surroundings due to his manic depression. Van Gogh admitted himself into a mental asylum in 1889. During his time in the mental asylum, van Gogh produced some of his most well-known art pieces, such as painting Starry Night. He showed the beauty of recovery.
