Don’t turn up your nose to that smell that hits you when you walk in, its just the bulls. These 2,000 pound animals are are sight to see. Especially when they are aggressively trying to shake someone off their back

The Bull riding starts at 2:00 pm and continues till the farm closes. Maple Leaf Farms is a home to bull riders from the junior high to professional level. Kids as young as seventh grade are fearless as they hold tight to their bulls. The rodeo progresses from the junior to high school level as riders tend to stay on their bulls longer and longer.

The rules are as follows: A rider must ride for 8 seconds with one hand in the bull rope and one in the air in order to earn a score. If the rider makes the 8 second buzzer, he receives a score.  If he does not make the 8 second buzzer then he receives no score for that attempt. Each ride is worth up to 100 total points. A total of 50 points are awarded to the bull and 50 points are awarded to the rider if he successfully rides the bull for 8 seconds.

After the amateurs finish, the professional bull riding competition starts. The top riders from around the country come to ride for the Maple Leaf Farm Rodeo. The bulls are bigger, meaner, and more wild when its time for the professionals to ride. The saying “its harder than it looks” doesn’t even apply to bull riding because it already looks near impossible. If you’ve never seen Bull riding a trip to Maple Leaf Farms should be on your fall bucket list.
