Focusing on bowling, Junior Kayla Soto is ready to get a strike.

The bowling season has officially begun for the 2018-2019 season. Although, the home opener wasn’t as successful as the Patriots would have liked, that won’t stop them from having a promising year.

This year the girls and boys bowling team are prepared to keep their momentum from last year going. Last year the girls’ placed sixth in the state for their division whereas the boys unfortunately weren’t able to place. The girls lost one varsity bowler Laryssa Fiore. The boys lost two varsity bowlers Stephen Cracchiolo and Tyler Wolff. However two new-coming varsity members are ready to fill in. Freshman Justin Kane is really excited for this season. “I’m really excited for this season,” he stated, “I can’t wait to play with this team and work on my skills.”

Even though Colonia received a total of six new bowlers, there are a lot of returning members. Returning member Will Orak, who placed fourth at last years GMC, is ready to improve. “This year we have a lot of potential and I think we have a good chance at winning the White Division,” Orak said, “my goal on the other hand is to win GMC this year.”

Rivals

Orak isn’t the only one with that mentality. The entire team is eager this season and wants to win. The Patriots all can agree that this season is different from the rest. This year there is a lot to prove considering there biggest rivals, Woodbridge, is no longer in their division. Woodbridge is Colonia’s biggest competition and have beaten them in the past couple of seasons. The girls were very close last year on ending that streak however weren’t lucky. Colonia bowling Patriots feel they have a lot of potential to possibly win this year and this feud.

Woodbridge in one of the many teams the Colonia faces throughout the season. Some of there other competition includes: John F. Kennedy Memorial, Sayerville, North, New, South, and East Brunswick, as well as many more. Colonia is currently in the White Division and feel that they have a really good chance of winning the division this season. Head bowling Coach Michael Scialfo feels the team has potential to win the White Division. ” I think we have a chance to win the White Division this season,” Coach Scialfo stated, “the boys and girls have made adjustments to their bowling and I think that as a team they can do big things.”

There are three places they bowl. Majestic in Hopelawn, Woodbridge Bowling Alley in Woodbridge, and Bowlero in North Bruswick.  Only time can tell how The Patriots will do this season. However expect big things to come from the bowling Patriots.
