On this day in 1990, Rickey Henderson of the Oakland A’s was able to steal his 893rd base. This gave him third in the record books, previously held by Ty Cobb. It did not take him long to break Lou Brock’s record on 938 stolen bases, and Henderson was able to finish his career having stolen 1,406 bases.
