In these times it is shown that reflecting on the positives could help calm the mind.

Living through a global pandemic, people see to only keep the negative facts in their minds. However have you ever wondered what the positive side is?  What are some of the positive effects of COVID-19?

Cleaner Water

Through this awful pandemic, there are a few positives. One being cleaner water.  Venice Italy canals are one of the most famous canals in the world. The best known is called the Great Canal and is used almost over 500 times a day. These canals transport people to houses and allow tourists to explore the interesting city. According to a Venice resident who answered a question for an article named Clearer water, cleaner air: The environmental effects of coronavirus, they stated “The canal is definitely clearer, you just have to look at the canal when water is very calm. There are no boats, there is no traffic. Definitely it is cleaner.” Not only have the fishes come back but they also allowed people to see through the water clearer. However, this is only one out of different positive effects.

Cleaner Air

Not only has this virus shown a change in water but also a change in the air. Before the virus, China held the title for the country with the most pollution-related problem. However, this has drastically changed. The lack of factory work and mechanical and vehicle movement that air pollution has decreased dramatically. Not only has China seen the difference but places all over the world have. A similar effect has been seen in northern Italy and New York. Columbia University scientists reported a drop in CO2 emissions this week as traffic levels fell by 35 percent.

Other Positive Environment Effects

Not only has this pandemic helped our water and air become better and safer but other dangerous actives have also stopped. One would include the rise of domestic energy use rising and the fall of commercial use. With many people now working from home it has been predicted that domestic energy has risen in the region of 6% to 8% in the U.S. alone. On the other hand, commercial energy has plummeted down 30%.

Even though the environmental changes that are occurring now it is predicted all the changes will go back to the way it was if people don’t begin to realize the effects on the world. Through these negative times, it is good to see the positive effects of COVID-19. It is important to stay safe and at home.
