A watch is just to tell time right? Well not in Apple’s case; the billion dollar company has recently taken a new look, style, and perspective at the design of ordinary watches.

Times have changed, watches are no longer used just to tell time. Apple has once again enhanced technology in a way people would never predict. These watches can do the extraordinary, from sending people messages, downloading apps, browsing and taking pictures, and even streaming music. Other companies have also taken a chance at making smart watches but have not been as successful as Apple.

The Apple Sport Watch is available in 10 models and are made of a custom alloy which supposedly makes it stronger than aluminum. The fluoroelastomer bands are colorful, flexible and soft. The glass of the watch claims to be scratch resistant and can handle impact, but anyone who has an iPhone knows without a case the screen is bound to crack easily. They are still developing elements to the watch such as siri, maps, music and phone calls. This also means that a data plan for your watch will probably be required.

But what exactly makes Apple’s watches so special and different from other companies, and how do people feel about this new product?

Colonia High School freshman, Kayla McBride said that she believed $349 is too expensive for something as simple as a watch. She also added that since people can use their phones to tell time or even use a basic watch, something as complicated as Apple’s new product is unnecessary and is so overpriced that it will most likely be a bust and just not sell well.

Apple believes that they’re in a big enough market for these watches. It’s crazy how many people will be willing to pay such high prices for something as simple and plain as a watch.

There is a lot of controversy on the screen, some thinking that it’s too small. With all of the apps that it has, is the screen to small for your finger? Or will you really be showing people pictures on your watch instead of your phone, or the knob on the side will it turn as you cross your arms?

The apple watch also has a social figure where you can send people with Apple products a little message with a custom vibration on the watch. So a person can send someone a smiley face with a custom vibration.

The Apple is only for people with extra spending money. The watch ranges from $349 for the sport model to seventeen thousand for the gold plated watch. Currently, the watch can only be pre-ordered. It becomes available on April 24, 2015.

The watch is impractical because its like another phone but on your wrist, what would be the point of that a watch is meant to tell time not call or text etc. It is a little small to use for texting.

Also will people only buy the watch because of its Apple status? Apple products are the hot stuff on the market. Everyone wants the latest new iPhone, so will more people fall into Apple’s bandwagon and spend all this money on something as simple as a watch?
