Colonia’s volleyball team leaves the court after their win.

On April 24th, Colonia High Schools’ volleyball team came out on top against Plainfield High School. Colonia won against the rival team by 2-0.  The game took place in Colonia High’s gymnasium at four o’clock.

Colonia started out the game with a record of 8-7 (9-7 now) after they had beaten Edison High School 2-0. Plainfield High School’s previous record was 1-6 (1-7 now) winning only against Union High School.

The game began at 4:00 and ended at 4:45. Colonia won the first match 25-14, and then the second match 25-14 as well.  Colonia’s roster included Brian Gorczyca, the team’s libero. Nick Filzen, who averages 4.7 kills per game. Tom Cuilla who averages 15.2 assists per game. And many other great athletes who helped carry the team to victory.

The teams’ unification brought them closer to victory, as Plainfield started to crumble. In the sport of volleyball, chemistry will bring you far. The team works well with each other, whether they are doing well or not, and that is what gave them the win, and with their regular season ending May 11th, the Patriots are sure to close the season strong as they continue to win matches against upcoming rivals.
