CHS seniors announce their selected college

This probably will not be news for those that have been in the college search process but yes, May 1st is the deadline for when high school seniors need to make a choice and provide an enrollment deposit to the college of their choice for the next four years.

May 1st is not recognized as a ‘national holiday’ quite yet, some people don’t even know what this day is or how much it means to high school students. Although this isn’t a holiday, Hallmark will most likely be coming out with a section of cards for College Commitment Day.

CEXVWe3UgAI37CUYou can make your deposit for your choice school before and after May first but be prepared to be put on a wait list after May first and possibly lose your deposit. May first is not the day where you start thinking about where you want to go, it is the deadline where you need to decide what college you will be attending for the next two to four years.

Although many people don’t know about College Commitment Day, Colonia High School(CHS) does. CHS knows how important this day is to many students and this year on May first several students that attend CHS (seniors or not) and staff that work at CHS showed their support for all the students making their big decision that day. On May 1st, CHS staff and students wore some type of clothing or accessory of their favorite college in support for the students making their big decisions. Seniors decorated paper graduation caps with their intended college on it.

Juliana Kizima, Spring reporter
Juliana Kizima is sixteen years old and in eleventh grade in Colonia High School. She enjoys binge watching Netflix and going to the movies. Kizima loves reading but only if she's interested in the book. She likes books that have suspense and tragedies in it. Her favorite subjects are English and Science. Kizima cheered for Saint Cecelia's for a few seasons and she loved it! She also enjoys swimming and laying out on the beach. She cannot stand when people chomp on their gum. Kizima likes hearing things about celebrities and what's going on in their lives. She consumes most of her time going out with her boyfriend. They like to go bowling, on picnics, to the movies and especially out to dinner at Benihana since they love food and the food there is amazing but so expensive. Kizima likes to do her research when she hears about something so that she has hard facts on the subject and not just hearsay information.  Her favorite shows are Grey's Anatomy, Scandal, Shameless, NCIS and Law & Order SVU.
