Sonnet of the soft spoken

Words fall from your tongue like syrup

You move your mouth but the words don’t reach

I notice your glass, bright like peach

Story continues below advertisement

Trying to start a conversation, but it just don’t stir up

Through ups and downs I want you to stay up

Through pain and fire your words will always breach

The hardest of hearts you’ll always teach

That with a little softness, anybody can grow up

And leave that hard shell behind

Still glossy like the sun your lips pure

The words that aren’t said, will always leave you broken

When all is lost and you think meaning is hard to find

Just let the words fall, let them reassure

That no matter how hard, words are soft spoken
