The movie box office was 136.8 million.

The Godfather is based on a Mario Puzo’s novel. Al Pacino plays Michael Corleone. In the first scene, Pacino is shown holding a cat. Pacino found the cat on the lot and decided to use the cat in the scene. The cat was purring so loud during his scene. In addition, most of Pacino lines had to be looped.
