Freshman, Victoria Esteves, is an avid watcher of the show and she agrees that Dr. Reid is her favorite because he is the most relatable, “He is a lot younger than the rest of the agents in the show so sometimes, when they go to other police stations in different cities, he isn’t taken seriously because of his age. He’s also an awkward type of person and isn’t really physical. His advantage is his brain and I think a lot of people can relate to that.”
Esteves also loves watching the show because “It’s so interesting to look at crimes from the criminal’s point of view. Criminal Minds shows you what’s going on in the criminal’s mind. Usually we only see one side of it but sometimes people are suffering from other things, like mental illness, that leads to them doing what they do. We always think that someone who commits a crime like the ones seen in this show as terrible people but sometimes they’re suffering from other issues that most shows don’t show us.”
Criminal Minds not only provides suspenseful and interesting entertainment for its watchers. It also shows issues, not talked about as much in real life, like the affect mental illness can have on a criminal. With its charismatic characters and intriguing plot, Criminal Minds and a definite must-watch.
