Starting in 2005 until now, Criminal Minds has brought in many ratings to CBS thanks to their thrilling and suspenseful episodes.

The crime-drama T.V show, Criminal Minds, has captured the attention of many interested watchers with its appealing cast and contrast of dark crimes with hilarious banter.

The television series, 2005 – present, found a way to capture brutal crimes and delve into the psychology of the criminals. Through the process of profiling and analyzing the crimes, the show attempts to explain why criminals do what they do.

Starring a group of special FBI agents and two doctors, Criminal Minds focuses on the crimes and on the personal lives of each agent. Intertwining the plot to create an interesting series that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The starring cast of ,the most recent, season 12, includes, Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Grey Gubler) the genius doctor. Jennifer Jareau (A. J. Cook), a special agent with incredible combat skills and a soft spot for children.  David Rossi (Joe Mantegna) and Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) veterans to the BAU who stand as role models for the other agents. Dr. Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler) a psychologist who has come face to face with countless cold blooded killers. And finally,  the quick witted technical analyst, Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness). Though there has been some cast changes throughout the seasons, the show has still managed to create thrilling episodes.  A new watcher to the series, Rachel Griffith, has described the show as, “great and very interesting.”

Griffith spoke about the characters as well and how they add to the plot and give the show more depth. When asked who her favorite character is, she confidently said that Dr. Reid was her favorite because he was “smart, cute and funny.”

Freshman, Victoria Esteves, is an avid watcher of the show and she agrees that Dr. Reid is her favorite because he is the most relatable, “He is a lot younger than the rest of the agents in the show so sometimes, when they go to other police stations in different cities, he isn’t taken seriously because of his age. He’s also an awkward type of person and isn’t really physical. His advantage is his brain and I think a lot of people can relate to that.”

Esteves also loves watching the show because “It’s so interesting to look at crimes from the criminal’s point of view. Criminal Minds shows you what’s going on in the criminal’s mind. Usually we only see one side of it but sometimes people are suffering from other things, like mental illness, that leads to them doing what they do. We always think that someone who commits a crime like the ones seen in this show as terrible people but sometimes they’re suffering from other issues that most shows don’t show us.”

Criminal Minds not only provides suspenseful and interesting entertainment for its watchers. It also shows issues, not talked about as much in real life, like the affect mental illness can have on a criminal. With its charismatic characters and intriguing plot, Criminal Minds and a definite must-watch.
