WandaVision is currently one of Marvel’s highest-rating projects. The series has a 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Marvel Studios is back after an unexpected hiatus due to COVID-19. Disney hasn’t released a Marvel Cinematic Universe title since Spider-Man: Far From Home. The recent Spidey title came out in July of 2019. The new show  WandaVison is a delightful take on classic sitcoms.

Background Info

Fans have been desperately waiting for new Marvel content since. Kevin Feige (Marvel Studios President) has cautiously been revamping the upcoming Marvel schedule. Marvel’s first phase four project is WandaVision on Disney+. Now that Disney+ is available, Marvel can focus on making TV shows that tie in with the films.

WandaVision takes place after Avengers: Endgame. The series follows Wanda Maximoff starting her idealized suburban life with Vision in the town of Westview. Although, everything is not what it seems. The series pays homage to many popular sitcoms as the show itself is a parody of one.

Sitcom References

WandaVision is definitely unfitting for Marvel’s action blockbuster lineup. Each episode represents a different decade, and it carefully plays into the context of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany stole the show as we uncover their darkest secrets in the town of Westview.

Kat Dennings and Randall Park

Kat Dennings and Randall Park also reprise their roles as Dr. Darcy Lewis and agent Jimmy Woo. Both characters were involved in the MCU prior. Teyonah Parris portrays an older Monica Rambeau who now works for S.W.O.R.D.
Monica will have a big impact on the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the writers of WandaVision set her character up well.

Agnes

Although WandaVision was a nice introduction to phase four, Kathryn Hahn stole the show for me as Agnes. Agnes is Wanda’s nosy neighbor in Westview whose appearance only makes the show more exciting. It gets even better when we uncover more about Agnes’ character.

What’s next for Wanda….??

WandaVision also sets up upcoming projects that will affect the Marvel multiverse. Jac Schaeffer cleverly explored Wanda’s character, and she finally got the development every fan has been waiting for. Schaffer creates a show where we can sympathize with each character, but also understand their motivations are self-destructive. Vision was a delight to watch on-screen again as you continuously wonder why he’s alive again.
